Dual Immersion (DI) Program Enrollment and Informational Meetings for the 2018-19 School Year

WOODLAND, Calif., February 21, 2018 – Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, Christina Lambie, reports that Dual Immersion (DI) Program applications will be accepted on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the Woodland Joint Unified School District’s Kinder Fair. Program information and applications are available online at, and at Enrollment Services at the District Office located at 435 Sixth Street, Woodland. DI Program applications will also be accepted after March 1st at the Enrollment Services office. In addition to applying for a Dual Immersion Program, new students must be registered at their home school to be considered.

Our District currently has three elementary schools, Beamer Park, C.E. Dingle, and Woodland Prairie, that offer a Dual Immersion Program K-6. A DI Program offers instruction in both Spanish and English. The program’s goal is to produce bilingual and biliterate students in English and Spanish. The DI Program serves both native English speakers, as well as native Spanish speakers.

Informational meetings will be held for parents/guardians of students entering Kindergarten in the 2018-19 school year that are interested in learning about the District’s Dual Immersion Program. This informational meeting will also serve as the required orientation for parents/guardians who will enroll their child in the DI Program for the 2018-19 school year. Parents/guardians will receive a brief overview of the DI Programs in the District, and have the opportunity to ask questions. The meeting/orientation will take place on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the District Office Board Room located at 435 Sixth Street, Woodland. Childcare and translation to Spanish will be provided at the meeting.

Beamer Elementary Principal Gina Llamas-Cruz states, “Having a Dual Immersion Program has proven to be very rewarding for our community, but most importantly it helps our students meet the demands of a bilingual world.”

Woodland Joint Unified School District’s Dual Immersion Program has a 33-year history, and has long been a leader in this endeavor.
